Life Giving Ways

Take an in depth look at the 5 major areas of formation that we focus on. We call them the Live Giving Ways that Vida House prepares its students for ministry.

Spiritual Formation: We are a community committed to prayer. Every gathering of ours revolves around prayer, especially praying the Psalms. Additionally, we seek to pray the Psalms on our own morning, noon and evening. We also integrate other spiritual disciplines in our training and commit to following an approved rule of life for our spiritual growth and progress.

Biblical Formation: We are a community committed to study. We teach the deep riches of Scripture in a practical, pastoral, personal and culturally sensitive way. Three convictions that shape our approach to scripture are: 1. The theological need to read Scripture as the unfolding of God’s purposes to redeem the world through Christ. 2. The spiritual need to read Scripture as the unfolding of God’s purposes to unite his people to Christ. 3. The missiological need to read Scripture as the unfolding of God’s purposes to renew all things in Christ. We holistically walk through the biblical drama, learning how to teach and preach as we go. Our team of professors and courses prepare students to know scripture and teach it well.

Missional Formation: We are a community committed to service. We serve in a variety of ways: through local churches and non-profits. Sacrificial love and service are at the heart of our training. Participants commit to serving a minimum of 3 hours per week through an approved ministry.

Vocational Formation: We are community committed to providing work. We have a growing network of businesses, ministries and churches ready to receive our interns and pay them at competitive rates. It is our conviction that today’s ministry training should prepare one to be bi-vocational.

Communal Formation: We are a community committed to the local church. We have a growing network of churches that participate in recruiting, equipping, encouraging and sending students out as missionary leaders for our world.
